WiFi is not enough, American Airlines is looking to add paid-for online video streaming services. This is great news and a good start for airlines to enhance the travel experience for many travelers. First step was WiFi, next step is bringing on-demand movies, music videos, tv shows to the palm of your hand (literally). I wonder if American Airlines should partner with Netflix?
Will this make me want to travel more? Not really, but it should increase the competition with other airlines. If you do not offer this service and you charge just as much, why should I travel with you? In any case, competition should heighten.
Next critical question is how much will this service be? Its a paid for service…which means its going to cost me. Does this mean I have to pay for WiFi AND video streaming? I sure hope not. In any case, its nice to see airlines putting investment back into the traveling experience. It may be the only way to keep customers loyal.
